The proposal by the General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU) to organize international internships for young people was supported by the CIS Youth Interparliamentary Assembly (YIPA CIS) at its 26th meeting, held on May 21 at the Tavrichesky Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Kairat Toroev (Kyrgyzstan), Chairman of the GCTU Youth Council, delivered a report on the role of international internships in shaping the human resources potential of the youth of the CIS member states. The YIPA meeting was also attended by heads of youth councils of trade unions, specialists in youth policy fr om national trade union centers, and sectoral trade union organizations of the Republic of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan as participants in the international internship project for CIS trade union youth, organized by the GCTU in cooperation with the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the State Duma of Russia. The GCTU delegation consisted of 12 people.

"This is the first time that the GCTU has participated in such a format and composition not only in the work of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly but also in other main events of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. This became possible thanks to the active cooperation of our organizations. It is important for us that the youth wing of the CIS trade unions is actively integrating into the real work of our international organization. Internships are a good way to immerse oneself in the part of our work related to the formation of model legislation in the field of labour in the CIS space and a good way to get acquainted with the work of interstate structures in general. It is valuable that the CIS IPA will develop this idea," said Margarita Usova.

Participation in the spring session of the CIS IPA is the second stage of the internship for the GCTU trade union youth. The first stage took place in April this year in Moscow. The program of the first stage included participation in the work of the 11th meeting of the Youth Parliament under the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, wh ere the results of the legislative activities of the Youth Parliament were reviewed, the organization of monitoring of socially significant initiatives, the role of youth in the Russian electoral process, and other issues were discussed.

The agenda of the YIPA meeting on May 21 in St. Petersburg included recommendations for improving the national legislation of the CIS member states on youth policy, a report on the current state of youth policy and the development of youth parliamentarism in the Kyrgyz Republic, an overview of the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on youth, and chess diplomacy as a tool for international youth cooperation in the CIS member states.

The internship program also includes participation in the international conference "Legislative Regulation of the Use of Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies for Counter-Terrorism Purposes and the Prevention of Radicalism and Extremism," organized jointly with the UN Counter-Terrorism Office. On May 22, project participants will take part in the 60th plenary session of the CIS IPA.

The agenda of the CIS IPA plenary session includes reports on the topic "Year of Health Protection in the Commonwealth of Independent States: Coordinated Policy and National Strategies," consideration of a new edition of the Land Code for the CIS member states, a number of documents on regulating the system of development and support for young talents in the Commonwealth countries, on coordinated approaches to organizing labour regulation in the CIS countries taking into account the introduction of digital technologies, on platform employment, strategic planning, protection of children from information harmful to their health and development, and others.
