Margarita Usova presents GCTU initiatives at the “Trade Unions. 21st Century” forum
On October 8, Sochi is hosting the 8th All-Russian Intelligence Forum “Trade Unions. 21st Century. An Era of Change.” For the third year running, the General Confederation of Trade Unions is the forum's general partner.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, GCTU Deputy General Secretary Margarita Usova presented the Confederation's projects related to training young trade union cadres and developing social partnership across the CIS.
This year, the GCTU ran an international youth internship project. The chairs of member organisations' youth councils took part in events of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the CIS (IPA CIS), visited the State Duma of Russia, and familiarised themselves with the work of the Commonwealth's interstate institutions. The GCTU plans to continue the project and expand the internships' geographic reach.
Margarita Usova also spoke about work on a new edition of the CIS model law on social partnership. Documents of this kind serve as a template for drafting national legislation in the Commonwealth countries.
She separately noted that, later in the afternoon, forum participants would take a closer look at the practice of handling International Labour Organization complaints against states and the significance of these processes for the trade union movement and international cooperation.
“I am truly glad that such serious and important topics for the entire trade union movement are being raised here. The work that trade unions do matters greatly for preserving normal cooperation and for future development,” Margarita Usova said.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin Presents the Order of Honour to Viktor Pinsky
Viktor Pinsky, a member of the Russian State Duma and General Secretary of the General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU), has been awarded the Order of Honour. The award was presented by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
"My sincere congratulations! I am glad that your work has been duly recognised by the country's leadership," Vladimir Putin said as he presented the award to Viktor Pinsky.
The ceremony took place today in the St George's Hall of the Kremlin in Moscow.

GCTU takes part in EEC Advisory Committee meeting on social security for workers
On October 8, Moscow hosted the ninth meeting of the Advisory Committee on Social Security, Pension Rights, Medical Care, and Professional Activities of Workers of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, held at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
